The Division of Sports Medicine of the The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital & Sports Injury Center Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides medical care and treatment to professional and recreational athletes of all ages. Our team of experts specializes in athletic injuries of the bones, joints, muscles, cartilage and ligaments, with a special focus on shoulder, knee, hip and foot and ankle conditions.
We work with you through the consultation and treatment — keeping you current state, desired outcomes and performance needs in mind — and coordinate post-treatment care with the rehabilitation staff. Our goal is to help you remain healthy and active and get back to the desired level of athletic performance. Our sports medicine specialists serve as team physicians to some of the most elite collegiate athletic programs in the country, including the teams of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital & Sports Injury Center University. Our experience with the needs of athletes means we’re prepared to handle common and severe cases of sports injuries in those who compete at a professional level.
Once perceived as discipline concerned only with repairing athletes’ traumatic injuries, sports medicine is now recognised as a medical science that is expanding the understanding of the body’s integrated response to all forms of physical activity.
